North Cross, Plymouth

Client: Plymouth Chamber of Commerce

Completion: 2006

A spatial study to address the poor sense of arrival and user experience of Plymouth Station, and a feasibility study to identify and test wider opportunities for improving the way the City functions here. The proposal is to create a new central business district adjacent to the Plymouth University Campus.

Building upon the Mackay Vision, a series of public realm spaces extend Abercrombie’s Plan and connect the railway station more directly with the City Centre. Links with other neighbourhoods are restored, pedestrian routes are improved, and there is potential to accommodate a high quality, public transport system with direct access to Central Park.
